Members enjoy monthly meetings, with guest speakers of national and international fame and we also organise fly tying workshops and tackle shows etc.    In addition there are opportunities for fly fishing instruction and competition and we enter teams in local, national and international boat and bank fishing events.
We organise a summer barbecue and fly casting competition, quizzes and a very popular annual dinner and prize presentation evening at a well known Lake District hotel.
Throughout the winter months we stage weekly fly-tying instruction classes, catering for all levels of skill and the most popular of these is always the absolute beginners class, which is a regular source of recruitment for new members to the Guild.

A small entry fee is charged at our monthly meetings, and members get the benefit of a reduced rate, visitors and guests of members are always welcome as are potential new members.
For some years now we have organised an annual team fly fishing competition between the northern based branches of the Fly Dressers' Guild and have won the shield for the top placed team on many occasions.      Another notable success is that for three years in succession Lakeland Flydressers' won the national Guild's annual Framed Flies competition beating some of the best known fly tyers in the country.

So we have brought to Cumbria and north Lancashire a wonderful opportunity for like minded anglers and fly tyers to get together on a regular basis in a social atmosphere, to discuss flies and fly fishing and learn from each other and seal new friendships.       An added bonus is that all members are automatically included in our special Public Liability insurance scheme which covers them for an indemnity of up to £5 million against claims arising out of their angling activities, anywhere in the UK.
